It’s been a week since Russia invaded Ukraine.

This time, I will talk about #TechForUkraine and their landing page. Not only is this an important initiative for Ukraine, but also perhaps one of you, Readers, could get involved in this project. This is more of an informative issue of the newsletter rather than the pros and cons one, and I hope you understand why.

I also wanted to tell you that I stand with my friends from Ukraine, and I do have Russian friends as well. It feels somehow important for me to say that I believe that this kind of aggression and violence is unacceptable in today’s world and that I hope we’re all capable of doing our best to put an end to this war.

Let’s move on to the landing page and example actions we can take.

This page allows tech companies to register and offer support in creating software for Ukrainian NGOs in need.

Which elements do their job best:

Contact form section. “You are ready to start immediately!” is pre-chosen as the default option in the “Your readiness” field.

No euphemisms. Better to use the words “war”, “aggression”, “invasion” rather than vague expressions like “the situation in Ukraine”.

There is a link to a very similar landing page, where Ukrainian NGOs can submit a project for their non-profit organization.

A section explaining how big the scale of the problem is and that. For Luhansk and Donetsk, the war has been going on for nearly 9 years now.

A section where we can learn how to get involved in the project. By implementing a parallax scrolling effect, the creators presented the process of volunteering as a smooth and easy one.

Landing Page of the Week is a series where I review various examples of landing pages from the web.
